Hello, friends! My name is Svitlana Melnyk and I am a Ukrainian instructor in the Summer Language Workshop at Indiana University. I'm here to invite you to learn Ukrainian. Why Ukrainian? Because it is the language of resistance, the language of freedom, and the language of victory. It is the language of true heroes. Discovering a new world through language is fascinating. It is through language we come to know a culture and its people. By learning Ukrainian, you will come to know Ukrainian culture and the Ukrainian people. We will do a lot of interesting things in class. We will learn new words, of course, and do role plays. We will watch films, both documentaries and fiction, and we will sing together, because songs reveal the soul of the people. Through song we will get to know the Ukrainian soul. We will also cook delicious Ukrainian food and enjoy Ukrainian culture together. So come, learn Ukrainian, and revel in our language: Ukrainian!
