Xiang Lyu received his Ph.D. in Chinese Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently working as a senior lecturer at Indiana University Bloomington and a language consultant at IU Chinese Flagship Program. He has taught all levels of Chinese language classes, both heritage and non-heritage tracks in the US for more than 16 years. Previously, he has worked as a lecturer at Princeton University and the leading instructor and admissions committee member at the Princeton-in-Beijing Intensive Summer Program for 4 years, and 7 years at UW-Madison. His research focuses on Chinese pedagogy and phonology, especially the study of the super-segmental features of Chinese, such as the interaction between Chinese tones, intonation, morphology, and syntax. His recent work include a book named as The Wisdom of China: A Theme-Based Classical Chinese Reader [中华智慧:古汉语类编读本] published by Peking University Press (forthcoming 2025).
