The Flagship Chinese Institute (FCI) is the original name of what is now called the Chinese Section of the Language Workshop.
Established in 2009 through a partnership between the Indiana University Chinese Flagship Program and The Language Flagship, FCI was designed to serve as the primary domestic summer study center for the National Chinese Flagship Program.
In 2018, FCI changed its name and became part of the Language Workshop, but its structure and methods are unchanged. The pedagogical programs developed for FCI continue to this day to help students cultivate their mastery of the Chinese language and their understanding of Chinese culture.
