ZDRAVO! ЗДРАВО!
Part of the Workshop for over three decades, the accelerated, proficiency-based BCS program was developed in collaboration with the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at Indiana University. The program combines formal classroom instruction and extracurricular activities to increase both the linguistic competence and the cultural literacy of participants. The program is based on the use of authentic materials, including the live participation of faculty and facilitators from the Balkans.
Although the course addresses speaking, listening, reading, and writing in BCS, in both the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, the focus is an developing communicative and interpersonal skills. Students can expect the course to emphasize communication skills, while also advancing students writing abilities and listening comprehension skills. Classes are conducted primarily in BCS, for example, and oral skills practice is a common feature of the course.
