I am a linguist, curriculum designer, and educator specializing in German as a Foreign Language (DaF), second language acquisition, and educational technology in higher education. My research and professional practice focus on second language phonology, dialect acquisition, lexical processing, and evidence-informed pedagogy. I hold an M.A. in Linguistics and Speech-Language Pathology (University of Potsdam) and a dual Ph.D. in German Philology / Linguistics and Second Language Studies (Indiana University, 2025).
In my current role as Director of Curriculum and Educational Technology at the IU Language Workshop, I oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of intensive, outcomes-based foreign language programs aligned with ACTFL, ILR, and CEFR proficiency frameworks (A1–C1 / Novice–Advanced / ILR 1–3). I lead curriculum development and digital transformation initiatives that integrate technology, pedagogy, and assessment to deliver measurable proficiency gains.
My work centers on fostering inclusive, innovative, and evidence-based learning environments through the intersection of goal-oriented pedagogy, effective didactics, and formative assessment. I collaborate with faculty to design student-centered, task-based instruction supported by accessible, multimodal digital learning environments, ensuring all learners have equitable opportunities for success.
Over the past decade, I have:
- Designed, delivered, and directed semester-length and intensive language courses for university students and U.S. Special Forces personnel, guiding participants to B1 proficiency and beyond in both online and in-person modalities.
- Aligned curricula, assessments, and materials with standardized proficiency frameworks (ACTFL, ILR, CEFR) and supported faculty in setting targeted learning objectives and rubrics.
- Led digital integration of programs, training faculty in the use of pedagogical technologies that enhance active learning, classroom interaction, and instructional efficiency.
- Created faculty development resources, tutorials, and workshops on digital learning design, accessibility, and technology-enhanced instruction.
- Used learner data and instructor feedback to identify content gaps and drive continuous curriculum improvement.
- Provided instructional technology support for faculty and students, including LMS management (Canvas) and troubleshooting.
My professional focus is on rigorous, evidence-based language instruction that achieves measurable outcomes through technology-enabled, communicative, and task-based learning design. I translate linguistic research and pedagogical theory into effective, data-informed learning experiences that prepare educators and students for the digital age.
