I am passionate about helping students become confident, accurate, and fluent Arabic speakers in real-world contexts. For more than a decade, I have taught Arabic to learners from many different backgrounds and purposes, including U.S. diplomats, undergraduate and graduate students, heritage learners, study-abroad students, and professionals preparing for work in the Arab world. This diversity has shaped my understanding of how to support every learner—whether they aim to survive a conversation at a café or discuss complex political and cultural topics.
During my years at the Qasid Institute in Jordan, I taught in multiple tracks—from Modern Standard Arabic to Advanced Media—and coordinated academic programs for international partners. I served as the program coordinator for students from the University of Exeter studying in Jordan, as well as a coordinator and lead instructor in the U.S. diplomatic Arabic programs. These responsibilities strengthened my curriculum design skills and my ability to guide students through rigorous immersion experiences with clarity, structure, and care.
At Indiana University, I continue this work by teaching Arabic to university students with diverse goals, helping them bridge classroom learning with cultural knowledge and communicative confidence.
As a PhD candidate in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures, specializing in Islamic Studies with minors in Linguistics and Gender Studies, I bring cultural depth and analytical skills to language instruction. I believe that students succeed best in a classroom that is well-organized, intellectually rich, supportive, and—most importantly—engaging and enjoyable. My teaching philosophy emphasizes a strong balance between fluency and accuracy. I design classes that encourage students to speak boldly, think critically, and build real proficiency step by step. I provide honest, encouraging feedback so students always know their strengths, challenges, and path forward.
I am thrilled to return to the Summer Language Workshop to teach Level 4 Arabic and to serve as the Arabic Section Head for Summer 2026. I look forward to building a learning community where Arabic is not just studied—but lived, experienced, and celebrated. Let’s grow, communicate, and discover the Arabic-speaking world together!
