This intensive program provides beginners a solid introduction to Turkmen. Students who complete the course successfully will complete the equivalent of the 1st-Year curriculum in the Department of Central Eurasian Languages at Indiana University and will reach a proficiency of Intermediate Low or better. They will be able to communicate in day-to-day situations in Turkmen, will be able to read and write effectively on familiar topics, and will have a solid foundation for further study or travel. The program introduces Turkmen culture through work with authentic materials and media, as well as Turkmen activities and structured interactions with Turkmen speakers.

HOUSING AND MEALS
This is an immersion course. Immersion students live in Willkie Center in air-conditioned single rooms, sharing a lounge with other students studying the same language, for an estimated $32/night.
(In the event that Indiana University is unable to offer on-campus housing in summer 2021 for public safety reasons, this course will be conducted online. Details will be announced in spring 2021.)
On-campus dining options in the summer are limited. Indiana University Meal plans are available, but the number of cafeterias and hours of operation are limited. Most Workshop students prefer pay-as-you-go dining.
