Students of Akan, Swahili, or Wolof can supplement their studies with an online African Studies course: “Military Engagement and Global Power Competition in Africa.”
This 1-credit online course provides a foundation for understanding how the U.S. and other global powers engage with African nations through military programs, private contractors, and defense development. The course explores on how the U.S. military has engaged on the African continent during the Cold War, the unipolar moment that followed the Cold War, the Global War on Terror, and today’s global power rivalries.
