Every summer, the Language Workshop offers a special "rotating" course in a selected language. In 2022, that language is Tatar.

ABOUT THE LEVEL 1 COURSE
Tatar Level 1 provides beginners a solid introduction to contemporary Tatar, equivalent a 1st-Year course in the Department of Central Eurasian Studies at Indiana University.

ONLINE OR IN-PERSON: YOU HAVE OPTIONS
This hybrid course is designed for online instruction, but students spending the summer in Bloomington, Indiana, may attend in person. Regardless of modality, this intensive language course emphasizes interpersonal communicative skills. It features several hours a day of live work with the instructor and with fellow students, plus independent study, homework, and co-curricular activities.
On-campus housing is available for in-person students.

- High-school students over age 16
HOUSING AND MEALS
Participants in this course who are studying on campus may stay in Willkie Center in air-conditioned single rooms, sharing a lounge with other students studying the same language, for an estimated $32/night. Alternatively, they may opt to make their own housing arrangements, at their own expense.
On-campus dining options in the summer are limited. Indiana University Meal plans are available, but the number of cafeterias and hours of operation are limited. Most Workshop students prefer pay-as-you-go dining.
