This intensive program provides beginners a solid introduction to Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian. Students who complete the course successfully will complete the equivalent of the 1st-Year curriculum at Indiana University and will reach a proficiency of Intermediate Low or better. They will be able to communicate in day-to-day situations in BCS, will be able to read and write effectively on familiar topics, and will have a solid foundation for further study or travel. The program introduces Balkan culture through work with authentic materials and media, as well as activities conducted in BCS and structured interactions with BCS speakers.

The program is open to all, including
- IU and non-IU students
- graduate and undergraduate students
- high-school students over age 16
HOUSING AND MEALS
Housing in Willkie Center is included in your Workshop fee. You will stay in an air-conditioned single room, sharing a lounge with other students of your language.
Summer dining options are limited. We recommend that you cook in the Willkie Hall kitchen or eat in local eateries.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Teuta Ismaili is the lecturer for the Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian language. She has been in the field of teaching Croatian as a second language for more than 10 years. She is from Zagreb, Croatia. She loves teaching and reading. Her non-academic passions include traveling, playing sports and laughing.
